Penang Animal Welfare Society
4PAWS Penang, also known as the Penang Animal Welfare Society, is a registered non-profit organisation founded by Barbara Janssen in 2005. What began as an effort to rescue stray dogs has grown into an animal welfare operation caring for more than 700 dogs in Teluk Bahang.
Operating under a no-kill policy, the organisation provides rescue, medical treatment, rehabilitation and rehoming services for abandoned, injured and vulnerable dogs across Penang. Many of the animals under its care are strays found on the streets, including puppies and dogs requiring ongoing medical attention.
4PAWS is working towards securing a permanent site to support its long-term operations, with funds raised contributing to land acquisition, legal costs and the development of a dedicated shelter facility.
Their shelter is located at 429, Jalan Hassan Abas, Teluk Bahang, 11050 Tanjung Bungah, Pulau Pinang.
